Metro specialises in essays, articles, reviews and interviews that analyse the film and media cultures of Australia and the Asia-Pacific. It covers feature films, short films and documentaries, as well as television, radio, videogames and new media. Submission guidelines
We ask that all writers download and adhere to our submission, referencing and style guide, and return a Letter of Agreement to us once we have accepted the article.

We prefer articles to be emailed as Microsoft Word files, including a two-line bio of the author.
Pay rates
All writers are paid for their articles upon publication. Our pay rates (in Australian dollars) are outlined below.
1500–2500 words: $300
2500–3500 words: $350
Scope column (800–1000 words): $80
NFSA Restores essays (6000–8000 words): $700
Peer-reviewed articles: $200
